24-hr wait required to know Wagh's condition
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 19 August 2016 20:32 ISTDeputy Speaker Vishnu Wagh is expected to respond to the treatment in Mumbai in the next 24 hours.
“I am consistently in touch with the doctors. Response to the treatment would be known only after 24 hours”, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar told the media today evening.
The St Andre MLA was airlifted to Hinduja hospital in Mumbai yesterday after he suffered a cardiac arrest on 15th August.
While he is being treated by a team of India’s top experts in neurology and cardiology, rumours were spread on mobile and social media that Wagh had expired.
Kala Academy vice chairman Sushant Khedekar, who is camping at Hinduja hospital along with Wagh’s family members, has appealed to the people not to spread rumours and create panic.
In a press note release in this regard, Khedekar said a team of three doctors - Dr Hedge at Intensive Care Unit, Neurosurgeon Dr P P Ashok and Cardiologists Dr G R Kane is monitoring Wagh.
Goa-born leading neurosurgeon Dr Premanand Ramani also visited Hinduja Hospital and discussed with the doctors.
The Goa Medical College also issued a press note stating that Wagh was shifted to Mumbai to maximise his chances of survival with the best possible care.
It also stated that Wagh suffered damage to various organs due to initial cardiac arrest on 15th of August.
Though there was initial improvement, it was assessed that he would need prolonged care in ICU.
Wishing Vishnu a speedy recovery.
