Will Zico bid Adieu to FC Goa?

Zico is not sure whether he would continue with FC Goa any more.

“I will decide after one month”, says the Brazilian coach, while neither confirming nor denying the possibility.

The media confronted him directly today at the FC Goa press conference when he expressed regrets over his dream of winning the Indian Super League finals not coming true.

“I don’t see any reason to quit, but this is the time go back home and spend time with family”, he said, initially trying to evade a direct reply.

The veteran footballer, coaching footballers for the last 15 years, is however not happy with FC Goa’s action of boycotting the prize distribution ceremony.

Did you agree with the action, he was asked.

“No, I didn’t, but I have to obey my authority. Right or wrong, we have to respect them”, he said, in the presence of co-owners Dattaraj Salgaoncar and Srinivas Dempo.

Both the co-owners however had all the praises for Zico.

“Zico’ performance has been outstanding and he has given the best”, said Salgaoncar.

Though the Goa team lost the finals in the last three minutes, the overall performance of the team is exemplary and it could happen only because of Zico, he said.

“Zico is par excellent a coach”, said Dempo, while telling the media how he has trained the Indian footballers in the team.

“He wants more Indians in the team”, he added.

Zico however opined that Indian football has not gained much out of Indian Super League, in which most of the players playing for several teams are foreigners.
