Watch a drama; help the terminally ill patients
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 29 August 2015 22:18 ISTDilasa (Solace), a noble cause which requires your attention since it could happen in any house. A solace for terminally ill patients, for peaceful death.
We have doctors’ clinics for the sick, hospitals for the patients but nothing for the terminally ill patients, who are discharged from hospitals but cannot be looked after with utmost care at home.
The doctors and other concerned citizens have planned a full-fledged hospital for such patients in Ponda – Dilasa – to take pallative care of these terminally ill patients.
The project is worth Rs six crore, but you could contribute within your limitations. Who knows? Our own family member may require it tomorrow.
You could begin with a small contribution, while watching a drama, on Sunday, 30 August at Kala Academy in Panaji at 5.30 pm.
Sangeet Lagnachi Bedi (संगीत लग्नाची बेडी), a Konkani translation by Dr Pradeep Borkar of original famous Marthi script by Acharya Prahlad Keshav Atre.
Tickets for this charity show start with Rs 5000, Rs 2000, Rs 1500, Rs 1000, Rs 750 and Rs 500.
Your small contribution towards this most necessary project could make the dream come true.
The initiative is taken by Ponda branch of Indian Medical Association and several hands have come forward to help this noble cause.
“But most important is the contribution by common people like us”, feels Dr Vallabh Dhaimodkar, the secretary of the IMA Ponda Charitable Trust.
It has begun with Bandora Communidade donating a land of 5000 sq mts to the trust at Farmagudi.
Then came a contribution for the ground floor by the IMA Ponda members, all doctros.
South Goa MP Narendra Savoikar has taken responsibility of the second floor.
The project requires Rs 2.5 crore for the infrastructure, Rs 2.5 crore for the running cost and Rs 1 crore as a reserve fund.
“We will look after all the patients with fatal diseases irrespective of caste, creed or religion”, says Dr Dattaram Desai.
Such patients not only need regular medication but also solace and care, which the Trustees plan to provide with the help of trained nurses and doctor’s monitoring.
A beginning could be made by driving down to Kala Academy to watch a drama, buy a ticket you can afford and make the living of the terminally ill patients peaceful.
The Trust has also managed to get the donations exempted under section 80 G of Income Tax Act.
