GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 03 November 2015 22:21 ISTChief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar finally intervened to rescue his deputy and reach a ‘consensus’ to elect a chairperson and vice chairperson of Mapusa municipal council.
Sandip Falari will be the chairperson for the third time while Merlene D’Souza would be the vice chairperson, for the first time.
The imbroglio was resolved in a meeting of all the 16 councillors held at CM’s official Altinho residence held late tonight.

Besides Falari and D’Souza, also in the race were Sudhir Kandolkar, Ryan Braganza and Roan Kavalekar.
The meeting finally decided to elect Falari and D’Souza, both councillors even in the last council, as their head and deputy.
