BJP leaders have lost mental balance, not RSS leader Velingkar: BBSM
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 07 April 2016 20:00 ISTBharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch has retaliated the attack made on Goa RSS leader Subhash Velingkar, alleging that the leaders of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party have lost mental balance.
South Goa MP Narendra Savoikar had yesterday alleged that Velingkar was attacking the BJP on Medium of Instruction issue because he had lost mental balance.
In order to counter another claim that Goa’s RSS is not with Velingkar or BBSM on the MoI issue, four more prominent RSS leaders addressed today’s press conference convened by the BBSM.
While Velingkar had gone to address BBSM meeting in Sanvordem, present at the PC were senior RSS leaders Ratnakar Lele, Ramdas Saraf, Subhash Desai, Raju Sukerkar and Adv Swati Kerkar.
“The RSS has participated in the MoI issue after taking a formal resolution in March last year and Velingkar represents all of us in the BBSM as a co-ordinator”, said Lele.
Reacting to the suggestion made by Savoikar yesterday that Velingkar should quit RSS and join active politics if he wants to defeat the BJP on MoI issue, Lele said: “he would join active politics, provided RSS tells him.”
Konkani leader Uday Bhembre said actually the BJP leaders have lost their mental balance because they are taking exactly opposite stand of what they had assured the BBSM in 2011, before last election.
He also recalled a pre-election meeting the BJP-MGP leaders had with the BBSM which was attended by then opposition leader Manohar Parrikar, then BJP president Laxmikant Parsekar, North Goa MP Shripad Naik and MGP leader Sudin Dhawalikar.
“They came to us and asked for BBSM support while assuring to include in the BJP manifesto that government grants to Church-run English primary schools would be withdrawn. We had not gone to them”, he said.
Adding to it, Arvind Bhatikar, another Konkani leader, distributed press cuttings of 28th March 2012 of Parsekar’s press conference, announcing party’s support to the MoI issue and their participation with the BBSM.
“And now they claim that the BJP was never part of the BBSM but it was a participation in individual capacity. They are not merely liars, but father of liars”, said Pundalik Naik, another Konkani leader.
ALSO CONDEMN MGP
When media persons asked why the BBSM leaders are not condemning the MGP but only the BJP if the assurance was given jointly, Bhembre said there is no specific reason.
Media persons asked them whether they are looking at the MGP as an alternative to the BJP in the next election, he said they equally condemn the MGP.
“We have no such intention but we did not stress upon others because they are small partners in the alliance”, said Bhatikar.
Bhembre disclosed that PWD minister Dhawalikar, in private, has rendered support of his party to the demands of the BBSM to withdraw grants to Church-run English schools.
He also flayed Savoikar’s claim that the ruling BJP has found an amicable solution to the MoI issue, stating that amicable means the solution acceptable to both the parties.
“How can it be amicable when we don’t agree anything less than withdrawal of grants”, asked Bhembre.
