Brahmos launched successfully off Goa

India has successfully test fired BrahMos supersonic cruise missile off the Goa coast today.

The missile performed the high-level 'C' manoeuvre in the pre-determined flight path and successfully hit the target.

The missile was launched from the Russian-built warship at 1100 hours, BrahMos Aerospace chief A Sivathanu Pillai said here.

Exactly two months back, the country for the first time had tested the 290-km range BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from underwater.

The submarine-launched version of the missile was "successfully" tested near Visakhapatnam coast.

BrahMos flies at the speed of Mach 2.8 and is a strike weapon.

The Army will be inducting three versions of the multi-role BrahMos.

It has already placed orders worth Rs 9,484 crore, over the next two-three years.

Both Navy and IAF have also ordered BrahMos missiles worth Rs 3,568 crore and Rs 1,295 crore.
