Goa to host Jyotsna Bhole Birth Centenary

 

Goa is hosting two-day event of the birth centenary celebration of Jyotsna Bhole, Goa’s nationally renowned classical singer of Marathi musical theatre.

It would be held at Goa Kala Academy on 11 and 12 May, informed GKA chairman Vishnu Wagh.

Hailing from Bandora village of Ponda taluka, the Kelekar Gharana has contributed great singers to Indian classical music.

Besides Bhole, the Kelekar Gharana has produced great singers like Girijatai Kelekar and Kesharbai Bandodkar, informed Wagh.

Prasad Sawakar, Goa’s another nationally renowned classical theatre singer, will open the two-day Jyotsna  Bhole Centenary Festival, along with chief minister Manohar Parrikar and PWD minister Sudin Dhawalikar.

A short film on Bhole, directed by poet Sudhir Moghe, would be released at the function on 11 May.

Two musical evenings have been organized on both the days, to pay tribute to Jyotsna bai – Jyotsna  Navache Gane (जोत्स्ना नावाचं गाणं) and Bola Amrut Bola (बोला अमृत बोला).

Vandana Khandekar, Anuradha Kuber, Sawani Datar-Kulkarni, Raavi More and Shrikant Pargaonkar would sing her songs.
