Nine 'youngs' awarded Goa's Best Artists of 2014

Nine young Goan artists have been awarded as Best Artists at the 40th Goa State Art Exhibition for the year 2014.

The awards, in artist category, have been announced by Goa Kala Academy in three categories – painting and graphic print, applied art and graphic design and sculpture.

The awards in each category are as follows:

Painting and Graphic Print:

 Loretti Joyce  Pinto for ‘Dollem Add, Mosonn Padd’

Shivaji M. Shet for ‘Lamia –The Resurrection’

Veenita S. Chendvankar for ‘Untitled’

(Shivaji Shet, Kalidas Satardekar, John Rodrigues & Thomas Fernandes)

Applied Art & Graphic Design:

Kalidas Satardekar for ‘Child abuse’

Siddesh Mayenkar, for ‘Reflection’

Radima Jogley Naik for ‘Donate a World of Hope’

 

Sculpture:

Thomas Fernandes for ‘Repose’

Siddhesh Prabhakar Chari for ‘This is not a lamp’

John Socor Rodrigues for ‘Fifer Boy’

(Siddesh Mayenkar & Sidhest Chari)

All the prizes/awards carry a equal prize amount of Rs.20,000 each. 

Total 163 works were received this year in all the three sections, out of which 58 works were selected for prizes and display in the exhibition. 

This exhibition was judged by Rm. Palaniappan from Chennai, Prof. Madhukar K. Wanjari and Shri Dattatray Padekar from Mumbai. 

The exhibition will be inaugurated at the hands of art and culture minister Dayanand Mandrekar on 6th November at 5 pm at the Art Gallery of Kala Academy. 

The exhibition will be open for public up to 10th November between 10 am to 7 pm.
