Kapeh signs for Churchill

After weeks of negotiations between Victoria Premier League club Oakleigh Canons and Churchill Brothers, striker Jerry Karpeh signed a six-month contract with the Goan giants.

The contract was signed yesterday, when the transfer market opened in India, after a final compensation package was agreed, club sources said.

The 26-year-old will make his debut for Churchill tomorrow against Pune FC during the on going I-League, they said.

Karpeh, who played for Oakleigh Canons in the Victoria Premier league, had previously trained with S-League (Singapore) side Home United and Thailand''s Chonburi FC.

However, the transfer high fee pegged to the Liberia-born Australian prevented his move to one of the South East Asian clubs.

When an opportunity came along in late 2010, Jerry''srepresentative, R Sasikumar, former Singapore international, was quick to link up with his former national team coach Vincent Subramaniam, who is the head coach of Churchill Brothers, the sources said.
