‘Portuguese’ Remo misusing Indian docs; allege RTI activists, demand probe
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 01 January 2016 21:54 ISTThe case of verbally abusing a minor girl filed against pop singer Remo Fernandes took a dramatic twist today with three RTI activists filing intervention application in the Goa Children’s Court, seeking his arrest to probe issues related to his Portuguese citizenship.
Along with the hearing on his anticipatory bail application, Judge Vandana Tendulkar has also fixed the hearing on this application next Tuesday, on 5 January.
The intervention application is filed by Kashinath Shetye, Mahesh Kamat and Ketan Govekar.
They have earlier also filed complaints against Remo at Anjuna, Mapusa and Agacaim police stations on 27 December.
The three activists have raised an issue of how Remo could hold voters’ identity card of India and even be the ambassador for the Election Commission of India in Goa during 2012 Assembly election, when he is a Portuguese national.
They have also asked how Remo’s son Jonah, who knocked down the minor girl in a car accident on 1 December, could hold Indian driving licence when he is a French national.
Alleging that both Remo and his son Jonah are threat to national security, the intervention application filed before the Children’s Court seeks his custody to interrogate him in all these respects.
The case before the Children’s Court is filed by Aires Rodrigues, alleging that Remo verbally accused the minor girl while she was being treated at the GMC hospital after the car accident.
Both Remo and Jonah are alleged to have been acting in connivance with politicians for illegal benefits and gratification while pointing out that Remo is the member of the Aam Aadmi Party.
Calling it extremely grave and serious offence under IPC, the Citizenship Act, Passport Act, Foreigners’ Act and Registration of Foreigners Act, the trio has sought directions from the court to file FIR against both father-son duo and investigate their illegal behaviour.
“Remo has played a fraud on Indian government by using Indian documents and suppressing the fact that he is actually a foreigner”, Shetye told goanews.com.
“The aforesaid facts concerning illegal fraud on our country by these foreigners assume far greater importance in view of recent reports that widespread illegal activity is being done with blessings and/or involvement of various members of the Government, AAP, Election Commission of India and also foreigners Like SP Allen D’Sa, Police Inspector Edwin Colaco and 43 advocates who are Portuguese citizens”, states the intervention application.
Meanwhile, Remo today arrived in Goa from Portugal.
Portuguese Citizenship for Goans since 1937 treaty of equal rights for Goans, was never challenged by Republic indian Govt.
Beside all Goans born before 1961 illegal annexation by fraud , are still Portuguese Citizens as per UN convention/Treaty which Republic-India was also signatory.
Can Republic-Indian Govt , dare to arrest all 43 Goan advocates , S.P(Police) Allen D' sa and SP Edwin Colaco for holding Portuguese Citizens their birth right as per UN convention ??!!.
Goans are Goans, not Indians .
At present Goans are ..... Indians made by FORCE, LIES & BREACH OF UN TREATY -ILLEGALLY, along with Goans human rights.
Simple.
Portuguese passport is more valuable than Indian passport but let us not let people like Remo illegally enjoy the best of both worlds.
The guy has a Padmasri, isnt Padmasri only meant for Indian citizens ? Hope this dude ends up in Jail.
At last- the Portuguese HUNDIR MAMA came to Goa. Let us sing with loud voice- Ya Ya Maya Ya, Ya Ya Maya Ya...
Viva Portugal Remo! Feliz Ano Novo 2016.
Unfortunately these are serious offenses and I praise the three RTI activists for their support for our country. Many so called foreigners should not be allowed to underestimate Goans and Goa
Very serious issues indeed. I wonder what the great supporters of Remo including Dr. Oscar, etc. have got to say now. No wonder Remo and his boys sensed the danger and eloped their butts off to Portugal!! I remember hearing Remo's big lectures on so many social and criminal issues in the last few years, after all he did have a dark side ha.
