Goan father kills his two kids, injures Russian wife

The horrifying incident of a Goan father from Candolim killing his two children – of 3 and 7 years - and beating up his Russian wife shook the whole coastal belt, which is presently celebrating Christmas.
Philip Fernandes, 45-year old Goan from Ximer, Candolim, killed his two children – 7-year old son Elizha and 3-year old Catharin – by strangulating them today morning.
He also assaulted his Russian wife Swetlana with an iron rod on her forehead, causing serious injuries.
She is presently being treated at the Goa Medical College hospital.
The Calangute police immediately moved into action and arrested Philip.
He has been charged for murder, causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapon, attempt to murder as well as child abuse.
Calangute PI Tushar Vernekar said the motive behind the murder is still not established.
As he informed, Philip fell in love with Swetlana while working on a ship and got married in Goa in 2007.
Leaving his job, Philip had started running a rent-a-room service for tourists from this year.
