CBI raids Goa's passport officer
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 09 September 2015 21:25 IST
Central Bureau of Investigation today raided Goa’s passport office as well as residence of passport office Agnelo Fernandes.
Cause of the raid is not known.
The CBI team raided simultaneously the main passport office at Patto Plaza in Panaji as well as Fernandes’ residence at Nuvem in Salcete taluka.
Raid was on till late night.
Goa’s passport office has always been in controversy, mainly due to not getting appointment of the passport officer for approving the documents, in spite of the transparent system of on-line applications.
Neither the CBI team nor Fernandes however was ready to talk in this regard.
Goa’s passport office is the busiest one since thousands of Goans migrate every year for jobs abroad, especially in the Gulf countries.
My experience with the passport department is harrowing. One guy kept me waiting at the counter when it was in the courtyard due to renovation from 1.00 p.m. to 2.30p.m. in the hot sun and at 2.30 p.m. says the counter is closed. I am a senior citizen and I showed him my card but he just ignored me.
You are treated worse than a pariah dog at the passport department. Everyone is looked upon with suspicion unless you are prepared to supply vitamin M or if you have a friendly tout in your corner.
The Actual price to renew Indian Passports in USA (New York ) are only 200 US dollars (two hundred), but ever since Modi came in power they charge 3000 US dollars (three thousand ) that too under the Table ,all money goes in the Private pockets ...!!! Great Job Mr. Modi ...!!!
Five years back I was applying here renewal of my passport. A guy at the counter bark like a dog and flew my paperwork over a trivial matter. Instead of service response I was getting a regulatory one. I make a favour on you to issue the passport.
I won't be surprised if they find that this guy and his gang were issuing passports to terrorists or smugglers for a big prize. For money, anything is possible in India.

I think our Birmingham office can beat any of you all in rude behaviour and carelessness. The OCI application is such a pain you cannot imagine
