Gomant Sharada Puraskar for Gopalrao Mayekar
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 19 September 2014 21:43 ISTKala Academy Goa has declared Gomant Sharada Puraskar – the highest literary award of the state - to Prof Gopalrao Mayekar.
Mayekar, a senior litterateur, eloquent orator and educationist has been honoured for his lifetime contribution to the Goan literary field.
The Gomant Sharada Puraskar carries cash award of two lakh rupees and a gold plated memento of Gomant Sharada, besides the citation.
The final selection committee consisted of Navparabha editor Paresh Prabhu and veteran writer Jess Fernandes, under the Chairmanship of Dayanand Mandrekar.
Mandrekar, along with Kala Academy member secretary Prasad Lolayekar and other officials like Dr Dattaguru Amonkar and Sanjeev Zarmekar called on Mayekar at his residence in this regard.
This award has been previously conferred on B D Satoskar, Ravindra Kelekar, Dr. Manoharrai Sardesai, Manohar H. Sardesai, Shankar Ramani, Chandrakant Keni, Lambert Mascarenhas, Pundalik Naik and Dr. Aroon Heblekar.
