Bridge over Mandovi with revolving restaurant

Panaji will have a new bridge across river Mandovi, connecting Betim, with a revolving restaurant on top of it.

Similarly, a bridge connecting Camurlim with Tuem will have a tunnel on the side of Camurlim.

The Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation has approved almost six bridges across the state and grades apparatus on the Dabolim by pass.

It includes two signature bridges at Panaji and Camurlim, said chief minister Manohar Parrikar.

The bridges are Virdi-Amona, Panaji-Betim, Tuem-Camurlim, Shiroda-Rachol, Keri-Terekhol and Chorao-Ribandar.

The GSIDC plans to take loans from HUDCO and NABARD to construct these bridges.

“No bridge will block the water channel, obstructing water transport”, said Parrikar.

He said the Keri-Terekhol bridge would be built on one span while Panaji-Betim bridge will be built with only two pillars.

In addition, the government has also decided to complete the remaining by pass, from Baina to Sada.

Meanwhile, Parrikar said the inaugurating of Calvim bridge would be postponed by a month.

“It will now take place by 30 June instead of 30 May”, he said.

I understand that the people of Rachol and Raia are against any bridge linking Shiroda with Rachol as they want to maintain the heritage and serenity of their unique place..

Feeling of people of Rachol need to be respected. A bridge should not be forced upon them if they do not want one.

Hon. CM may instead go for a bridge in another location where people demand such a bridge.

The people of Terekhol have been demanding a bridge for so many years. Their demand should get priority.

Looks like you are pouring venom against ruling government! Secondly, there is no point addressing your views on proposed projects like bridge, revolving restaurant, 2 lanes parking space to me!

May I, as a citizen of India, born and brought up in Goa with no party affiliations either to BJP or Congress or any other political outfit say that, “Your above proposed ideas appears to be brilliant (hope these ideas are implemented in London!) and your feelings for Alamos are again noteworthy. If at all you require your ideas and feelings to be given a serious thought, it’s worth addressing them to chief minister of Goa or the head of coalition party ruling Goa.”

Hope you would do the needful in this direction or else I will have to reluctantly say, “You are wasting your time expressing your feelings and as well as addressing them to a wrong person.”

Hope they make the Bridge with the Revolving Restaurant very , very wide with 2 lanes reserved or purpose built for parking only.

It will be required for parking the cars/scooters/2 wheelers, trucks, mini-buses ...and maybe even Mining Trucks and woman only buses. etc. for all the Restaurant customers.

Another essential will be toilets. Everytime someone passes by the river, they develop an urge to urinate (answer natures call) in the river....or even worse perform a No. 2.!! .

These days even BJP MLA`s are known to answer nature's calls in the open .

I guess it is a way, like animals, to mark their territory where the expect to undertake some looting .

They better complete this bridge cum revolving restaurant, before Churchill Alemao, the Thief/smuggler of Varca forms a brand new Family Political Party, along with his desperate daughter Valanka ,...with a fake Manifesto/Fake promises, so that he can demand performing the Opening Ceremonies.

Is BJP coalition government outfoxing Congress government in “announcement” without “implementation”? Over 1 ½ year has passed there is no sign of even “foundation” laying ceremony for second Cortalim-Agasaim bridge? Or is this government waiting to see collapse of existing damaged bridge and only then to take up constructing new bridge, on war footing!

Secondly, if this news published in Goanews is correct, than I must say, “For very sure Goa don’t need bridge over Mandovi with revolving restaurant.” Do we? Looks like this ‘first-ever bridge’ is planned to create MORE dazzles to floating casinos – all under pretext of face-lifting tourism!

Great! Let there be more development all around.

Do not forget another bridge on river Zuari. It is need of the hour and should be given priority.
