Investors' Forum to discuss business opportunities

The investors' forum here on June 30 would discuss the business opportunities available in the state in tourism and other sectors, the state's apex industrial body said today.
"We have sufficient number of rooms and hotel projects. What we require is facilities to cater to the tourists visiting the state," said Ralf DSouza, Chairman, Tourism Committee, Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The investment forum scheduled on June 30 is looking at the players who want to put in their money for creating the facilities.
"Goa is projected as a family tourism destination. Where will the family go once they land in the state. We need to create facilities for them," DSouza said.
The forum planned by GCCI and State government is expected to be attended by more than 55 chief executive officers of listed companies.
GCCI President Mangurish Pai Raikar said that it was not possible to estimate the quantum of investment that would be made as a fallout of the deliberations at the forum.
He said Goa has not been able to attract significant investment for the last 5-7 years.
"The lack of interest in Goa could partially be due to the policy and decision making paralysis that had plagued the state for the last few years," he observed.
The GCCI, however, has said that the change in government has brought in new hopes.
The forum would discuss investment opportunities in sectors like Information Technology (IT), IT-Enabled Services, Pharmaceuticals, Tourism and Entertainment, it said.
