Gomant Vidya Niketan celebrates 100 years

Gomant Vidya Niketan, Goa’s premier socio-cultural institution based in Margao, is completing 100 years of its purposeful existence on 24 March 2012.
On the occasion, the Centenary Celebration Committee has planned a two-day event to commemorate the historic moment.
All the programmes will be held at Ravindra Bhavan complex, said Datta Damodar Naik, chairman of the centenary celebration committee.
The concluding session would be attended by Dr. Narendra Jadhav, member of planning commission and former Vice Chancellor of Pune University
Chief minister Manohar Parrikar will be the guest of honour while former chief minister and Chief Patron of the Centenary Committee Digambar Kamat will preside.
On 24 March, a seminar will be held on 'Ethical Values in 21st Century: Limits & Challenges' 10 am.
Justice Satyaranjan Dharmadhikari will chair the session while Pune-based social activist Anil Avachat and Goa’s leading lawyer Cleofato Almeida Coutinho will participate.
Similarly, on 25 March at 10 am, another seminar would be held on ‘Goa: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow'. Dr. Narendra Jadhav will chair it. Adv Radharao Gracias, Sandesh Prabhudesai and Dr Nandkumar Kamat will speak on yesterday, today and tomorrow respectively.

24 March
3 pm: Harmonium and table performances of child artists Soham Bakre and Tanesh Adkonkar
3.30 pm: Interviews of Anil Khavate, Dr. Rajeshwar Naik, Vijay Palnikar, Chandrika Gawade and Mangaldas Gaonkar, narrating their personal experiences.
4.30 pm: Mock court on ‘Doctor & Society'. Judge - Adv. Bernard D'Souza. Plantiff/Opponents - Dr. Anil Tendulker, Adv. Jagdish Prabhudesai, Dr. Francisco Colaco Dr. Medha Bakhle and Saish Panandikar. Lawyers - Dr. Ajay Vaidya and Dr. Ashish Deshpande.
25 March
4 pm: Concluding session. Three Goan luminaries Dr. Satish Shetye, Dr. Dattatraya Deshpande and Dr. Jayant Vaidya will be honored for their internationaly recognised research in different fields of science.
Release of a book 'Shatkatil Gomantak' (Goa through 100 years).
