"Mog Tujo" fame Wilfy no more

“Mog Tujo Kitlo Ashillo…” has become a folk song by now in the Konkani world. Its composer and lyricist Wilfy Rebimbus is no more.
Wilfy expired today morning at the Fr. Muller's Hospital, Kankanady in Mangalore. He was 68.
Widely known as Konkan Kogul, Wilfy has 3000 compositions to his credit, 1500 among which are for 500 plays.
He had crossed the boundaries of Karnataka and even India to reach out the Konkani community all over the world.
Started in 1970, Wilfy Nights were staged over 500 times in various parts of Karnataka, Goa, Mumbai, Kerala, Delhi and even Middle East like Muscat, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Kuwait and Doha Qatar as well as Canada.
Born on 2 April 1942, Wilfy composed and sang his first Konkani song in 1956, at the age of 14. In 1957, at the age of 15, he also wrote his first Konkani play "Poishanso Sounsar" and staged it through St. Joseph's Natak Sangh.
He leaves behind his wife Meena, Son/Daughter in law, Vishwas and Charlene Rebimbus, Daughter/Son-in-law Veena and Arthur Pais and grandchildren Arvin and Anna.
