MGP 'discovers' Cong as most corrupt, hold talks with BJP

Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, a coalition partner of the Congress-led government, has suddenly discovered that the Digambar Kamat government is the most corrupt one.

Dipak Dhawalikar, while accusing his own government, has also said that the alliance talks are on with the Bharatiya Janata Party and not the Congress.

“We stopped our talks with the Congress long ago”, he said.

He quit the post of chairman of Kadamba Transport Corporation today, after enjoying it for five long years.

Though he did not name any corrupt minister, Dipak said: “There were few ministers who were largely involved in corruption. You know them well. You also know their names.”

His elder brother Sudin Dhawalikar is also the transport minister in the Kamat government.

However, the MGP is now planning to snap ties with the government on the eve of Assembly election, scheduled for 3 March.

Dipak also seemed hopeful of the outcome on alliance talks with the BJP within a week.

“We have asked for 10 seats. But if it fails, we are capable of fighting 16 seats”, he said.

Meanwhile, the MGP today admitted two persons, to contest on party ticket.

Prakash Arjun Velip, personal secretary to chief minister Kamat, is expected to contest from Quepem.

Pratap Mardolkar, heading south Goa district of Shiv Sena, would now contest from Dabolim as MGP candidate.

These remarks make interesting reading...Is this realization come after sharing the power and benefits for last many years along with the ruling party? Were there any efforts made to remove corruption form the ruling alliance while sharing power with them? Or is this an election stunt?
