GCA's financial transactions stopped

State government's committee formed to probe into financial misappropriation in Goa Cricket Association (GCA) has asked the association to stop financial transactions till the report is submitted.

Goa government has formed two-member committee to probe into the financial misappropriation and irregularities in GCA, following complaints by local clubs.

Former GCA secretary Chetan Desai, who heads the committee, today asked the association not to have any financial transactions till they submit the report.

The formal inquiry into the affairs of GCA would start on May 7, Desai told PTI.

He has also sought police protection during the probe as the committee intends to extensively raid the office of GCA at Porvorim near here to get the relevant documents.

The application for police protection is moved at Porvorim police station.

GCA, headed by Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) former vice president Dayanand Narvekar, has been accused of indulging in financial irregularities.

Narvekar was also probed by Election Commission of India (ECI) for using his post as GCA chief to lure voters in the recently held Goa Legislative Assembly elections.

As a fellow Goan, we had high hopes with new Govt which is fizzling out at much faster pace than one can think of. What is puzzling is, he is being

guided by his own arrogance, which ultimately will bring him down for good. I still hopes this mandate, more anti-cong wave than BJP's populairity, is not short lived

like V. P. Singh's tenure, again anti-cong wave of 80's. Unfortunately its heading in the same direction. Please do not associate with Chetan Desai and Shekhar Salkar, losers of yesteryears, with dream of heading GCA one day, which to me will always remain as unfulfilled dream. You should go after big fish like Churchill or Digambar Kamat if you have a spine and stop going after small organization like GCA.
