Goa to have transit house for foreigners, pending deportation

Goa government is planning to set up a transit house, pending deportation, of the foreigners staying in Goa illegally.

Replying to the question tabled by opposition leader Pratapsing Rane, chief minister Manohar Parrikar today admitted once again in the House that lots of foreigners, especially Nigerians, are either overstaying or staying illegally in Goa.

Recalling the ruckus created by Nigerians by blockading the National Highway at Porvorim, he said only one among the 51 Nigerians held up were found to be holding a valid passport.

“But that does not mean deporting them is so easy since they are facing criminal charges with pending cases of accidents, narcotic related or other offences”, said Parrikar.

He also informed the House that these foreigners come to Goa from different parts of the country, including Mumbai.

“I am thus thinking of setting up a transit house where they can be kept, not as detention but with security measures ahead of being deported”, said the chief minister.

In a reply to Rane’s question, he admitted that many Goans, especially senior citizens, are not responding positively to the appeals made by the police to strictly follow the tenant verification formalities before renting out their premises to unknown people.

He has also once again warned of filing criminal cases against violators of these requirements.

There should be another "Transit" house created to house corrupt Goa Policemen.... & Perhaps another one, very secure , for Goan Politicians too!!

Goa Policemen are known to collect or "milk" haftas from over-staying Foreigners.

Foreign Drug Peddlers have no difficult paying up, to conduct their nefarious business. Their Drug Business is highly lucrative & profit margins are in excess of 100 %.

It is already a known & established fact that Goa Police do collect Haftas from rouge Foreigners.

Is any citizen been punished so far for not observing or for not complying with the tenant verification formalities? Just making laws and giving warnings when something goes wrong does not serve any purpose. We have enough laws. Implement them without discrimination.
