Victim's court deposition is a must in Tejpal sex scam: Police

The victim girl, who was allegedly raped by Tehelka founder editor Tarun Tejpal, will depose before the Goa magistrate either tomorrow or day after.
Her statement was recorded by Goa police in Mumbai today.
“The statement we recorded today is not considered to be authentic document but the court deposition”, highly placed sources at police headquarters told goanews.com.
After the police had moved the Panaji JMFC for her deposition, sources said her statement is recorded as per the court suggestion, so that the judge would get the basic idea for her deposition.
As per the new amendment to the Criminal Procedure Code, the victim in the rape case has to depose before the judge.
Besides recording her statement in Mumbai, the police have also taken possession of the email she had written to Tehelka managing editor Shoma Chaudhury, narrating both the incidents of sexual attack.
Based on the email that was being circulated, the Goa police had filed the FIR against Tejpal.
The police have also visited her personally in Mumbai in order to seek her co-operation in the case, without which it would be difficult to proceed with the investigation.
“The victim is fully co-operating with us”, DIG O P Mishra told the media persons today.
