Victim girl in Tejpal sex scam to depose on Wed

The victim girl in the case of alleged rape by Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal will depose before Panaji Judicial Magistrate First Class on Wednesday.
Highly placed sources at Panaji police headquarters disclosed to goanews.com that the girl has agreed to fully co-operate with the police investigations.
The young journalist was sexually attacked by Tejpal in Goa three weeks at the THiNK Fest organised by his own national news magazine.
While she shifted to Mumbai from Delhi after writing an email to Tehelka managing editor Shoma Chaudhury, the victim resigned today from the magazine, alleging that the organisation had failed her.
The victim girl is presumably a family friend of Tejpal and also a friend of Tejpal’s daughter.
The girl was thus reportedly shocked with the attitude of Tejpal, which she said was a father-figure for her.
The Goa police learnt to have contacted the girl telephonically and she has agreed to come down to Goa to depose before the JMFC.
The Goa police had filed FIR against Tejpal charging him of rape, based on the email she had written to Chaudhury.
Tejpal had subsequently rendered unconditional apology through email for his behavior and had also announced recuse of six months from Tehelka.
The Goa police team had accordingly visited Delhi office and seized laptops of both Tejpal and the victim girl to get authenticated version of their emails as well as other information.
The police had also interrogated Chaudhury as well as three more Tehelka staffers, whom the girl had narrated the incidents of sexual attack on both the days – 7 and 8 November.
The police had moved an application before the JMFC as recording the victim’s statement in the court is now mandatory as per the new amendment to the CrPC.
