The three-day Chakraview rave party is finally cancelled. The state government today revoked the NOC issued to the organizers to hold this so called eco-partry at the Butterfly beach in Agonda village of Canacona taluka in South Goa.
Apparently bowing before the media pressure and the wrath of the locals, Canacona deputy collector Dipak Desai cited a reason of ‘law and order' to revoke the NOC.
The deputy collector stated he had received similar report also from the police department.
The party was to begin on Friday at 4 pm at the secluded Butterfly beach. It was organized by Delhi-based group of youngsters.
The party was also promoted through a website http://www.chakraviewfestival.com as well as a website of rave parties, http://www.rave.ca/en/event/37698/.
Following a public outcry and media reports, the police department had started an inquiry into it. Followed by this, chief minister Digambar Kamat had also told the district magistrate yesterday to inquire into it and submit the report to him by today.
The organisers of Chakraview festival had claimed that it is a musical event that would also create awareness about the beach cleanliness and give lesson or two on the eco-sensitivity of the beaches.
The festival spokesman had said that it will also have Indian classical music and demonstration on how to preserve the beaches. The performers were supposed to be from Israel, Russia, Belgium, Italy, South Africa, Hungary and other countries.

It is sad to see Goa attracting the attention of the drug peddlers, criminals, pedophiles, drug addicts, gamblers, rapists and drug traffickers! It is more sad to see the younger generation falling prey to addictions, crimes and other anti-social activities! Under the guise of tourism, do we really need all this?
