Mickky raps his own Govt on rape issue

Tourism minister Mickky Pacheco has once again lashed out at his own Goa government, stating that it has failed to provide adequate security to tourists, following the recent Russian rape case.

Mickky also fears that such kind of repetitive incidents will ruin Goa's tourism industry.

He informed media persons at the press conference today evening that the high command of his Nationalist Congress Party will speak to chief minister Digambar Kamat on this matter.

"It is high time the government takes serious cognisance of the repetitive attacks on foreigners", Mickky said.

Micky has revealed that he had written a confidential letter to the chief minister two months ago. He wanted to discuss the issue. But the meeting is still not scheduled, he complained, pointing fingers even at his own chief minister.

Micky is now worried about the tourist inflow. He is worried about Goa's name getting spoiled because of such incidents.

"Such type of incidents will definitely affect Goa's tourism prospects", the tourism minister said.

Few months ago, Mickky had openly criticised home minister Ravi Naik for not handling the law and order issue with a firm hand. They had even clashed on the floor of the House.

NCP Goa desk in-charge Prakash Bhingsale was also present at the press conference. The NCP has already spoken to the chief minister, he said.

"CM should act tough on this matter. We are trying to make sure that such incidents are not repeated", Bhingsale said.
