Babush applies for bail, guns ruling BJP for ‘false’ rape case

After allowing police custody for eight days, rape accused and political heavyweight Babush Monseratte has finally filed a bail application. It will come up for hearing on Monday morning.
While once again denying charges of buying, sedating and raping a minor girl, Babush has turned his guns against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, but not directly by naming anybody in particular.
Babush begins his bail application, stating that “being in active politics and as a public figure determined to make my mark in public life, I have political foes, particularly in the ruling party.”
According to him, the alleged minor girl was manipulated and persuaded to make false allegations against him with the sole intention of politically weakening him.
“Due to the imminent Assembly elections and being fully aware of the support I enjoy in my constituency, my political opponents in a frustrated bid to weaken me, have indulged in this shameful act of falsely implicating me, with a sinister motive of keeping me away from my people and create obstacles in my path”, states Babush.
To justify the girl’s enmity with him, Babush says the girl had vowed to teach him a lesson after he terminated her services from his shop as she had stolen cash.
He also states that the girl has confessed about having stolen the cash by sending sms two persons. Her monthly salary was Rs 8000.
Babush prays for release on bail since he claims that police have not been conducting fair investigation in spite of surrendering to the police and co-operating with the investigation without opposing extensions of police custody.
On the contrary, he alleges that the police have been leaking false, misleading and skewed details of the investigation to the media.
Babush has been denied the charge of meeting the girl on 6th March and raping her on 8th March, at his Taleigao farm house.
He points out that these two days were the days of voting and counting of the election of the City Corporation of Panaji.
“I was busy on the streets with my friends, supporters and the candidates, from early morning to late night on both these days”, he states.
