BJP leaders’ ‘joy ride’ in ambulance sparks a row, Rane complains

Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party leaders taking a ‘joy ride’ in an ambulance has become a matter of political controversy in Valpoi.

Former health minister Vishwajeet Rane has filed a police complaint for misusing the ambulance, which was today inaugurated by local BJP leaders.

Rane however has filed a complaint against government officials, including the health secretary and the health director.

In a police complaint, the Valpoi MLA has alleged that the chief guest and other dignitaries were driving the ambulance and were also seen taking a ride after the inauguration.

Prominent among them were Satyavijay Naik, who lost on BJP ticket against Rane in 2012 election, former deputy speaker Narhari Haldankar and Prashant Desai, son of Bandu Desai, yet another former Valpoi legislator.

“Ambulance is an emergency service used to provide immediate medial assistance to those in dire need. However, the same was being used by unauthorised persons for joy rides”, states the compliant.

It is an utter disgust, he states, that the government officials did not stop misuse of the government property by ‘unauthorised’ persons.

The complaint however is filed against health secretary Dr Sudhir Mahajan, health director Dr Sanjeev Dalvi and Valpoi health officer Dr Surekha Parulekar.
