Babush for election alliance, but don’t know with whom
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 21 March 2016 21:41 ISTGiving yet another twist to the idea of Grand Alliance against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, Babush Monseratte has thrown a googly on the issue of election alliance.
“I want to be part of an alliance. But it is too early to say with whom”, he told goanews.com, leaving the whole Goan politics wondering what would be his next move.
The unattached MLA however is firm on taking over the United Goans Democratic Party, soon after the Lent gets over.
“I will maintain separate entity as the UGDP and go for election”, he said, ruling out any possibility of going back to the Congress, who expelled him from the party.
According to him, the alliance before the Assembly session was purely meant for the floor management.
The St Cruz MLA however is cautious on extending the alliance further, till Assembly election.
Will you be part of the anti-BJP alliance Vijai Sardesai is pushing for? goanews.com asked him.
“Whether anti-BJP or not, I don’t know, but I am not ruling out to be part of some alliance”, he said, declining to elaborate further.
He also preferred to stay at arm’s length from the controversy independent MLA Sardesai and Congress MLA Vishwajeet Rane are involved in.
Sardesai had accused ‘some members’ of getting involved in ‘setting’ with the BJP during Assembly session while junior Rane had bounced back, stating that he would quit the Congress if the party aligns with Sardesai.
“I feel Vishwajeet could have asked him, in a matured manner, to name the persons involved in ‘setting’ rather than attacking Vijai”, opined Babush.
As Sardesai had not named anybody in particular, Babush felt the Fatorda MLA might have referred it also to him since he was more serious about the constituency-related issues like Miramar-Dona Paula road than other issues.
“I believe Vijai’s statement pricked the conscience of those who have done something wrong”, he quipped, again saying everything without saying anything.
