She was kidnapped using FB, police rescued her using FB
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 16 February 2016 18:32 ISTFacebook got a minor student into trouble, but ultimately the same Facebook got her rescued, thanks to the young techno-savvy team of Goa police!
The Porvorim police, led by PI Jivba Dalvi, nabbed the kidnappers within three hours, after getting information about the missing 16-year old girl.
It had all started by making friends with the minor girl, who had managed to make her Facebook account by flouting the FB rule of having a minimum age of 18 years.
The two boys – one of them Shabbir Sayyed, a 21-year old photographer and another student falling short of four months to become a ‘major’ – made the plan to kidnap her yesterday evening.
As she was returning home after buying biscuits at a shop in the evening, the two boys pushed her into Shabbir’s Zen car.
After searching her everywhere, the father rushed to the police after 10 pm and also told names of the suspects.
The police immediately picked up the smartphone, surfed Facebook with their names, took snapshots of their photos and four teams moved into four directions in search.
One person near the shop identified one of the boys and the police rushed to his house in Merces to find that their son had not reached home.
The police took his mobile number and traced them through mobile towers.
By 1 pm, the police found the Zen car moving on the road with the minor girl and two accused boys inside.
The girl in her statement has told the police that she was forcibly dragged into the car and both of them were persuading her to have fun, PI Dalvi told goanews.com.
Shabbir was arrested while another boy was sent to the state juvenile home.
The rescued minor girl was handed over to the parents after medical examination, the report of which is still awaited.
