Yuva Mahotsav takes off with 'Naman' on Mhadei

The 21st Goa Yuva Mahotsav took off today morning with the issue of Mhadei water diversion dominating the youth festival right from the first performance.

‘Naman’, a procession of all the groups with themes and depiction of Goan culture, had different groups projecting the Mhadei issue.

The participating youth have come out with heart-touching slogans like ‘we won’t loan out our lifeline Mhadei’ etc.

Thousands of students and youth thronged the Juse Pereira Nagar at Campal in Panaji today, dancing at the beats of Dholl and Tashe and shouting creative slogans of Goan identity.

Mhadei is the theme of Yuva Mahotsav this year.

The Fr Bismarque Dias Mattov also has slogans on Mhadei displayed prominently.

Several other competitions also have Mhadei issue as one of the subjects, which would give deeper insight of the issue.

Tomorrow would be the highlight of it when Mhadei Bachao Abhiyan secretary and environmentalist Rajendra Kerkar and Dr Prakash Parienkar, the author of Mhadei book, would be interviewed on the issue.
