Dr Shenoy is the President of 30th Konkani Parishad session

Dr Chandrashekhar Shenoy, renowned theatre personality and a doctor by profession, will be the president of the 30th edition of All India Konkani Parishad, scheduled to be held in Goa next month.
Dr Shenoy was unanimously chosen to chair the national conference, which will be held from 22 to 24 January in Panaji.
While career path of evaluating cancer drugs with professional zeal and commitment, Dr Shenoy also pursued his real passion of theatre by either acting, directing or producing around 75 plays in Konkani, Marathi, Hindi and English.
He was honoured as a Konkani Mhan Manis by the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy for his contribution to Konkani.
Nandadeep, a Konkani drama produced and directed by him has secured an entry in Limca Book of Records 2007 for its record fifty performances by an amateur Konkani Group.
Dr. Shenoy has served as a member of the Sahitya Akademi's Advisory Board for Konkani and as Vice Executive President of the All India Konkani Parishad.
He is also associated with Vishwa Konkani Kendra, Mangalore, Konkani Triveni Kala Sangam Mumbai, Konkani Bhasha Mandal Maharashtra and Ami Goenkar, Mumbai.
THEATRE FOR A CAUSE
While following the path of progressive theatre of ‘70s in Mumbai, Dr Shenoy has worked with noted theatre personalities like Ebrahim Alkazi, Pandit Satyadev Dubey, Amrish Puri, Amol Palekar, Nazeeruddin Shah, Sulabha Deshpande, Sunila Pradhan, Dr. Shreeram Lagu, Deepa Shreeram, Chitra Palekar, Mohan Bhandari, Rohini Hattangadi, Nina and Dilip Kulkarni, Anant Nag etc.
He joined Theatre Unit, the modern theatre group founded by Padmashree Ebrahim Alkazi in 1968, under the veteran theatre personality and Doyen of modern theatre Pandit Satyadev Dubey.
Vallhabhpurchi Dantakatha, his production, was adjudged the best play in Maharashtra State Competition in 1970 while Samagra Manthan fetched prize for Best regional play and Best direction in Maharashtra state competition in 1979.
He also won recognition as Best Director for the pathbreaking innovative play Anusthan.
He had the privilege to perform in plays like Hayavadan written by Girish Karnad, Evum Indrajit written by Badal Sarkar and Andha Yug written by Dharmavir Bharati.
Notable Konkani plays written by Dr. Shenoy are Dharmakshetre Kurukshetre , Edra Gharkadcho Kini and Varadrayali Vhakkal.
He has also translated/adapted Badal Sarkar's Bengali play 'Valhabhpurer Roopkatha' (Ek Ashillo Rayu) Madhusudan Kalelkar's Diva Jalloo De Saari Raat (Nandadeep) and Vasant Kanetkar's Prema Tuza Rang Kasa (Preeticho Akash Mantovu) for the Konkani stage.
CANCER RESEARCHER
Dr Shenoy, a student of St Xavier’s College, Mumbai, took his doctoral degree from Cancer Research Institute, Tata Memorial Centre in Mumbai.
He has a vast post-doctoral experience at Tata Memorial Centre, Haffkine Institute, University Department of Chemical Technology, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and several other reputed Institutions in USA, Europe, South East Asia and Middle East.
Dr. Shenoy worked as Senior Scientific Officer at Tata Memorial Centre from 1968 to 2002.
At present, he is associated with Asian Institute of Oncology, S L Raheja Hospital and Somaiya Ayur Vihar in Mumbai.
