Goa's Sushant Tari bags Best Designer Award at 46th IFFI
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 30 November 2015 21:30 ISTSushant Tari receiving Best Designer award
Sushant Tari, a Goan art director who designed decoration of IFFI 2014, was presented an award as the Best Designer of IFFI, at a concluding ceremony of 46th IFFI this year.
This is the first time Directorate of Film Festival introduced the award for a Design, which Tari bagged for last year’s design.
Incidentally, Tari’s The Production Terminus (TPT) had also bagged the contract for executing the design last year.
Tari, who is in the field of art direction for the last 25 years in Mumbai, even overscored Sabu Cyril, the national award winner for his art direction, who designed this year’s decoration at the 46th IFFI.
Cyril’s design this year in fact brought dullness to the whole film festival, may it be INOX courtyard, the ESG area, the Kala Academy or the one km-long Cornish Street from ESG to Kala Academy.
Delegates in fact wondered on the first night why the whole INOX courtyard was in total darkness, after which the ESG officials rushed to install some bright lights, but could not bring life to the courtyard.

Times of India in fact published photographs comparing the overcrowded Cornish Street last year and near-empty street this year.
The organisers, for quite some years, have stopped all the cultural activity and food stalls on the Cornish Street, posing a challenge before the art directors to pull the crowd through their designs.
In spite of this, the Cornish Street last year was full of Goans who came from all corners of the state to enjoy at IFFI, without being delegates.
“We had conceptualised a festive look to the whole IFFI campus, keeping film in mind. We had even identified all the entry points of Goa at the borders as well as the airport and prime railways stations”, Tari told goanews.com.

His film-related installations all along the Cornish Street, keeping in mind that mobile cameras would keep clicking and selfies with actors and actresses would be taken, became a major attraction last year.
Similar was the decoration at INOX, ESG and Kala Academy, which the serious delegates could get enthused with.
He was presented the award at the hands of I&B Secretary Sunil Arora, amidst huge applause at the fully-packed Shyama Prasad Mukherjee stadium.
Tari is one of the finest art director....ASalute to u from a proud Goan . A selfmade man indeed
