TCP confiscates files, GEC to conduct quality test of Canacona tragedy

While rescue work of the workers trapped in the collapsed building at Canacona would continue, the authorities have started moving into action to probe the cause of collapse.

The town and country planning department has already confiscated all the related files from Canacona municipal authorities.

On the other hand, a team of experts from Goa Engineering College would visit the site to take samples of the collapsed slab, to verify the quality of construction.

The prima facie observations at the site revealed that the collapsed building has raised its columns in the reclaimed paddy field, which sunk.

On the other hand, after four slabs of the building floors collapsed above each other, cracks were seen developed to the neighbouring buildings.

“The GEC team is expected to submit its findings by tomorrow”, deputy collector Ajit Panchwadkar told goanews.com.

On the other hand, chief town planner S T Puttaraju visited the site today afternoon and confiscated all the files related to the construction of Ruby Residency.

He has also sought clarifications from the TCP engineer, who cleared the project with permissions.

Chief minister Manohar Parrikar has already assured a thorough inquiry into the whole episode.

He has also instructed the authorities to stop ongoing construction activity of the second phase of Ruby Residency as well as its another project Palolem Plaza, coming up at Palolem.

Construction of another building coming up in the paddy field opposite Canacona bus stand, built by councilor Hemant Gracias, has also been told to be halted.

Nearly all Goan MLA`s ,own flats ,shops & penthouses in various such construction projects or prestige developments ,all around Goa.

Many own Shares & interests in Hotels & industrial plots too (SEZ`s).

One wonders how they obtain these properties?. It is most certainly not through their salaries.

The second incomes of nearly all Goan MLA`s come from Bribes ,back-handers, palm greasing & Commissions.

Is it through their own hard earned cash or is it through toil (blood & sweat) ? ...or could it be for criminal favours granted?
