21 Covid deaths in 3 days, Goans in 50s succumbing to Covid
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 03 October 2020 18:44 ISTOctober has begun with Covid19 taking the lives of 21 Goans in the first three days. A sizable number are also from the age group of 50 to 59 and also the females.
The total toll has now gone up to 450.
The final figure of the first three days would be known perhaps by tomorrow. Today’s media bulletin has reported eight deaths, out of which one occurred on the 1st of October, three yesterday and four today, till the afternoon.
The first day of the month itself came with the bad news of 13 deaths. It included five patients in the age group of 50 to 59.
One among them was a 50-year old lady from Goa Velha, suffering with diabetes and obesity. Another 57-year old lady from Curtorim was suffering with chronic kidney disease and respiratory syndrome. She died yesterday.
In the last three days, seven females have succumbed to Covid19, an unusual trend which was not seen till now.
COVID DEATHS IN GOA: JUNE-OCTOBER 2020
A 45-year old boy from Bicholim, again suffering from hypertension and was brought to the hospital gasping, succumbed to Covid19 after battling with life for 13 days in the hospital.
But the trend at large seems to be senior citizens and age-old people dying of Covid19. Out of 21 deaths in the last three days, eight are in the age group of 70 to 79, three in 60-69 and two 80 and 82-year old.
Though there was not a single death in Canacona last month, a 79-year old female suffering with kidney disease succumbed to Covid19 yesterday. This is the third death reported in Canacona till date.
Dharbandora is the only taluka that has reported only one death till date, of a 52-year old male on 24th August.
Among the 21 casualties this month, four each are from Ponda and Tiswadi, three each from Bardez, Salcete and Quepem and one each from Mormugao, Bicholim, Canacona and Sanguem.
