Media & Nigerian convoy created confusion: CM

Goa government has blamed the media as well as Nigerian envoy for creating confusion over deportation of Nigerians from Goa, which sparked off a controversy.
According to chief minister Manohar Parrikar, he had always maintained a position that foreigners staying in Goa, including Nigerians, without proper documents would be deported.
“I never said ALL the Nigerians would be deported. I cannot do it”, he told the media persons today at Dabolim air port after inspecting its renovation work.
He reasserted that foreigners overstaying in Goa even after expiry of their visa or without other relevant documents would be deported.
“We will not disturb anybody, including a Nigerian, who has all the required documents”, he reiterated.
Parrikar however seemed upset over the attitude of the envoy of Nigerian embassy, which had come down to Goa to meet the police officials.
“As a foreign diplomat, he should have come to Goa through external affairs ministry and I should have been informed in this regard. I was not at all aware of his visit”, said Goa chief minister.
While not visiting Goa through proper channel, Parrikar said the envoy sent offensive SMS to the high police official of SP status.
“Looks like this envoy was not briefed properly and he overreacted on the basis of wrong information”, he said.
The media report, quoting this envoy, that all Indians in Nigeria would also be deported back to their country in retaliation of Nigerian deportation had created confusion.
Nigerian embassy had however issued a note verbale to Government of India, expressing concern over the security of its nationals in India, particularly in Goa.
The embassy had also demanded immediate arrest of those who killed Obodo Uzoma Simeon, a Nigerian, on 30 October night.
After his dead body was found on the road in Parra village the next day, the Nigerians living in the village had reacted violently by blocking a National Highway, attacking police officers and smashing police vehicles.
This action had prompted the state government to act tough as some of the Nigerians are involved in drug trade and the murder appeared to be an outcome of a gang war.
Goa police have presently arrested Suren Poll, a local youth from Chapora, in the murder case while it has also identified 12 others from the same gang.
The police are on a look out of other suspects, who are presumably absconding.
This type of things which can create diplomatic rows and affect Indians in other countries need to be handled carefully.
All those who are overstaying illegally, indulging in drugs, breaking laws of the land - irrespective of their nationality, should be deported.
Anybody and everybody, at least from the ruling party should not be allowed to issue statements on such issues.
This type of issues need mature handling. CM should advise the ministers and MLAs at least from his party not to issue unnecessary statements. They should allow the CM to handle such sensitive cases because this needs maturity.
Mr Parrikar should stop fooling Goans and constantly teaching them "how to suck an egg" or from which end they must start.
Goans in Goa and abroad have seen the various videos of the incident and are able to make up their own minds.
In addition .A picture tells a thousand stories .
Goans are well capable of deciphering his actual words spoken( & recorded), after the incident, and in the heat of the moment ,and draw their own conclusions/implications from it and its intended meanings.
Leaving out the media, Mr Parrikar must be aware that Goans also read FORUMS/Opinions, such as this one on Goa news and more than often learn about the real truth & ground realities.
I hope Mr Parrikar will be able to spell the word "TRUTH" soon ,and better still understand what it means.
You are absolutely right MR. PARRIKAR. While welcoming all foreigners with warm hospitality in Goa, any foreigner staying illegally in Goa should be deported. Similarly Nigeria is free to deport any Indian found violating the law of their land. The statement of Nigerian envoy to deport all lawful Indian in Nigeria in retaliation is totally absurd.
Rightly all nigerians staying illegalyy should n must be driven away, so also the residents of Parra supporting them should and must be punished.
The decision by the panchayat is very much right and implementation shoul/must be supported by all goans, specially by the CM who is the most responsible person of Goa.
There are goans who harras their familys just to get gains from outside for monetary benefits and they also should be punished. Police should and must help the citizens who approache them for help sepecially who harras their parents by ditching them.
As Mr. Lobo says he is right. and The CM Mr. Parrikar if he supports him everything will go right and Goa will be free of all illegal activities
