Digant lauded for entry at Cannes
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 18 April 2013 17:54 ISTTeam of "Digant" was today congratulated by Goa Assembly for being the first Konkani film to be the official entry at the Cannes International Film Festival.
The film, produced by Sanjay Shetye and directed by Dnyanesh Moghe, has been officially selected by Directorate of Film Festivals of India, along with three other entries.
Moghe has also written screenplay, dialogues and lyrics for the film while he has also been the cinematographer.
While moving a congratulatory motion, Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral said it is a proud moment for Konkani cinema as it is for the first time in the history of Goan cinema that a Konkani cinema is selected at such a prestigious film festival of the world.
Art and Culture minister Dayanand Mandrekar said Goa should be more proud of it because the whole team is consisting of Goan artists, except the studio based in Mumbai.
Besides the producer and the director, Mandrekar informed that the story is written by art and culture director Prasad Lolayekar, music by Mukesh Ghatwal and all the actors are Goans.
Margao MLA said Moghe had produced equally fabulous documentary on Dr Anil Kakodkar.
Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho said Goa government should now think more seriously of helping Konkani cinema to develop.
Members of the House also said leaders of the same team, as Vinsan Graphics, has been organizing Marathi Film Festival in Goa quite successfully.
Several other members including ministers Milind Naik, Dilip Parulekar, opposition leader Pratapsing Rane, Glenn Ticlo, Babu Kavalekar and Subhash Faldesai also spoke in appreciation.
Many members also hoped that Digant gets an award at Cannes Film Festival.
