Traffic PSI killed on road by rash truck in Ponda

Performing duty on a road in Ponda cost Abhishek Gomes, a traffic PSI, his life as a truck dashed him down today morning.
30-year old police sub-inspector Abhishek chased a truck from Kurti bypass road near Amigos, as the driver refused to stop.
The truck was bearing a number PB 13 Q 6115.
Amarjeet Singh, 25-year old truck driver from Punjab was later on arrested by police. He had fled from the scene, leaving his truck behind.
PSI Abhishek chased him on a motorcycle and signalled him to stop, but the truck dashed him from behind and fled.
The police officer was dragged almost for 20 meters and his one leg almost got dislocated, besides injuries all over the body.
He was rushed to Ponda ID hospital and then to Goa Medical College.
But he breathed last before reaching the GMC at Bambolim.
He had played a major role in nabbing a jail bird Seby Ferrao in 2010, at Konkan railway station in Margao in 2010.
Abhishek, a 2006 batch young and efficient officer, had joined Ponda traffic cell in November last year.
The Margao-based officer is survived by his mother, two sisters and a brother.
Ponda Police have registered a murder case under section 302 of IPC against the truck driver.
