Only Cong-NCP & BJP-MGP intend to come to power

Except two alliances of the Congress-NCP and BJP-MGP, none of the parties appear to have been contesting Assembly election to come to power with absolute majority.
In fact Trinamool Congress is the only party that has fielded 20 candidates, one less to the absolute majority required in the 40-member House.
All the other 12 parties have fielded seven or less number of candidates.
The Congress (33) and the NCP (7) is the only alliance that has fielded candidates in all the 40 constituencies.
The BJP (28) and MGP (7) combine has also fielded only 35 candidates.
The BJP-MGP alliance is yet to declare names of the independent candidates it is supporting in rest of the five constituencies.
Dr Wilfred de Souza’s imported TMC has fielded only 20 candidates, most of whom are the Congress rebels.
Mickky Pacheco’s Goa Vikas Party and the South Goa-based United Goans Democratic Party have also fielded eight and seven candidates consecutively.
There are altogether 137 party candidates. The rest 74 are independents.

Except the candidates of Congress, NCP and BJP rest all including the MGP are those who keep their feet in two boats and try to balance their chances. These have their fingers in all pies hoping to lick at least one of them
