Sudin quits cabinet, but non-committal over withdrawing Govt support

Transport minister Sudin Dhawalikar finally quit the Congress-led coalition government, but is still undecided over withdrawing support to the Digambar Kamat government.

“I have resigned as per the directives of my party’s central committee. Now the committee should decided whether we should also withdraw support to the government”, says Dhawalikar.

According to Dhawalikar, he does not know whether it is necessary to withdraw the support.

Dhawalikar also claimed total ignorance over the alliance talks with the BJP.

The BJP had demanded that the MGP should withdraw support the government, if the alliance needs to be finalised.

The MGP central committee is meeting on Sunday, 5 February to finalise on both the issues – withdrawal of support as well as alliance with the BJP.

The alliance talks are lingering since the MGP is also not coming out openly against the Congress.

After Deepak Dhawalikar resigned as the Kadamba Transport Corporation chairman, Sudin took almost a week to quit the cabinet.

Meanwhile, the BJP had alleged that the MGP is holding parallel talks with the Congress over alliance.
