MGP to finally quit the Govt

The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party has finally decided to quit the Congress-led coalition government.
The central committee today directed both its members to distance itself away from the Congress.
After enjoying fruits of power for the full term of five years, the MGP would now say it is part of the government.
Transport minister Sudin Dhawalikar is expected to quit the cabinet within a couple of days.
His brother Dipak has already quit the post of chairman of the Kadamba Transport Corporation.
“Alliance with the BJP or not, we will not remain part of the government”, said Narayan Sawant, working president of the MGP.
According to him, the party would go alone even if there is no alliance. It would be thus wrong to be part of the coalition government with the Congress.
Interestingly, the party is holding alliance talks with the BJP while being the alliance partner of the Congress-led government.
On the other hand, the BJP had alleged that some of the MGP leaders are holding alliance talks with the Congress.
They had made quitting the Congress-led coalition government a precondition to finalise the alliance talks.
According to opposition leader Manohar Parrikar, the alliance would brighten the chances of getting majority.
“But that does not mean we cannot get majority on our own”, Parrikar told Pramod Acharya, news editor of Prudent TV, on his weekly Head On show.
