Willy plays Trinamool card; for Tulio's ticket?

Dr Wilfred de Souza

After quitting Nationalist Congress Party, former chief minister Dr Wilfred de Souza is now using Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress as a weapon to perhaps blackmail the ruling Congress party.

Dr Willy, as he is widely known, today showed a letter received from All India Trinamool Congress, appointing him as the Goa president of the party.

“I have also been offered to conduct Goa Assembly election on behalf of the AITC”, he said.

Strangely, Dr Willy has not accepted the offer, for reasons best known to him.

While refusing to disclose, Dr Willy said he need time to think over the offer.

Sources however claim that Dr Willy is using the Trinamool card to get a ticket for his son-in-law Tulio D’Souza from Saligao, his former constituency.

Tulio’s name figures in the list of three names the Congress has sent to the high command, along with Francis Colaco and Jayesh Salgaoncar.

Saligao is presently represented by BJP's Dilip Parulekar.

While he continues as the deputy chairman of the Goa State Planning Board, Dr Willy however made allegation that Congress is the most corrupt party in the country.

He looks at Trinamool as an opportunity to provide a third option for Goans.

Dr Willy is known for creating his own den when the Congress sidelines him.

In the past, he has revolted against the Congress several times, by forming Goa Congress, Goa Rajiv Congress and then the Nationalist Congress Party.

The 85-year old seasoned politician however now is reportedly planning to retire from active politics, provided his son-in-law is being accommodated, it is learnt.
