Alliance talks would go on till mid-Dec

The NCP today said talks of pre-poll alliance with Congress for seats in Goa are likely to continue till mid-December.

The party wants a satisfactory share of tickets for contesting the forthcoming state assembly polls.

NCP's Goa Observer Bharati Chawan said the third round of talks of the alliance committee will be held in the next couple of days in Goa.

"We already had two rounds and things are moving steadily. The rounds are likely to continue till mid-December," she said.

Chawan said there would be at least three more rounds of talks before both the coalition partners come down to a proper understanding.

NCP, which contested on six seats during 2007 elections have now demanded 12 seats from the 40 constituencies.

"We want our original six seats and in addition we will be asking for 6 more seats on which discussions are currently on," she said.

The Congress is represented by All India congress Committee Observer Jagmit Singh Brar and Secretary Sudhakar Reddy in the alliance talks.

Chawan said the situation has changed in Goa and now the party (NCP) is a strong position even to fight on its own.

"We will not settle till we get our satisfactory share of tickets," she added. NCP is currently in coalition with Congress in Goa.

The Sharad Pawar-led party has three legislators in the House while Congress has 20
