CM asks report on drug nexus cases

Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat today asked the Home Ministry to submit a report in the cases exposing nexus between state police officers and drug dealers.

Kamat held a meeting with Home Minister Ravi Naik, Director General of Police Bhimsen Bassi and others in the backdrop of a recent sting operation showing Anti Narcotic Cell PSI Sunil Guddler pushing drugs.

This stunning exposure by Prudent, a local TV channel, followed another development in which Israeli drug baron Yaniv Benaim alias Atala, apprehended last year inGoa, was arrested in Peru.

"I have asked them to submit a detailed report by tomorrow evening," the Chief Minister told reporters.

Kamat has also asked the Ministry to submit a report on the custodial death of Cypriano Fernandes (39), a Non-Resident Indian, who died after being arrested for assaultinghis neighbour.

DGP Bhimsen Bassi said they will initiate action against Guddler, caught on camera allegedly selling drugs, after Crime Branch submits a report.

Guddler was caught selling charas in a sting operation conducted by two Israeli girls, whose kin David Driham was arrested by the Sub-Inspector in a narcotics case last year.

Bassi said efforts are being made to bring back Atala, who has been arrested by Interpol in Peru.

Atala, who had jumped the bail and fled Goa, is an important link in the police-drug peddler nexus case.

Last year, Atala was caught on the tape confessing to his girlfriend about his links with the Goa police. This was also exposed by Prudent.

Are such incidents growing steadily in Goa -a dangerous warning signal for the future of the younger generation? The drug trade may be a very good source of making easy and quick money when there is a dirty nexus between the politicians and the law enforcing agencies- acting in tandem! Such dirty deals being exposed by the agencies other than the law enforcing agencies is also totally undesirable as it indicates the failure of these agencies which are created and sustained at the tax payer's money for the specific purpose!

Long live our degenerated democratic system.........!!!!!!!

MR. CM cannot be firm can one tell which Politician have worked for the PEOPLE. One can easly tell what was the state then and now or any politician some have reached from matka agent/smugglers/goondas/ to CMs what is their qualifications and how much they make a year the way they have their wealth gone are the days when politicians used to work for the people if you see them when they ended their political carrier they still had nothing for them. If CM becomes firm than another group of 10 will be formed to bring down the government.

You would better be firm Mr, CM, there is no time for any monkeying around with these serious issues.

There was time when the CM kept the all-important portfolios of Home and Finance close to the chest with himself/herself. Then the politics of strong-arm feature cropped up and the always- on- top- of things CM became a thing of the past. There used to be a Minister of State, which is now defunct, because every minister, is a de-facto chief minister of the allocated portfolios clubbed together. There is no time for complacency, the mounain of ice will be an avalanche come round -the- corner election time. The roars of tigers (biptte wag) are slowiy getting strong. Better watch out and get them in order for the benefit of the public (not just the proiverbial) public consumption. Get the home (a small hearth) under your control.
