Vishwajeet joins Cong, by-poll in Valpoi
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 24 June 2010 16:51 ISTHealth minister Vishwajeet Rane resigned as the MLA and joined the Congress today.
He also resigned as the minister and got himself sworn once again.
A by-election in his Valpoi constituency is now imminent, to get himself elected on Congress ticket.
Vishwajeet was elected an independent MLA in the last Assembly election, after the Congress had denied him a ticket.
However, he has supported the Congress-led coalition government, headed by Digambar Kamat, throughout.
Similarly, he has been part of the G7 group - the coalition partners, who also hobnobbed with the opposition to topple the government on couple of occasions.
Following education minister Babush Monseratte, Vishwajeet is the second member of the G7 to join the Congress within four days.
Unlike Babush, Vishwajeet however preferred to resign both as the MLA and the minister.
Rather than resigning as the MLA, Babush claimed that he has merged the one-member United Goans Democratic Party into the Congress.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Subhash Shirodkar said the Congress is now much stronger in North Goa with both Babush and Vishwajeet joining the national mainstream.
Vishwajeet also claimed that his entry into the Congress is unconditional. "I belong to the Congress family", said the sole son of speaker Pratapsing Rane.
Taking a step ahead, Subhash claimed that the Congress does not believe in conditional entry.
Chief minister Digambar Kamat as well as education minister Babush were also present at the Congress House as well as the Raj Bhavan along with other Congress leaders and hundreds of Vishwajeet supporters from Sattari.
Just the name is enough for Mr. Vishwajeet Rane…. To Win. His supporters don’t need all what you have mention. Don’t judge him with dirty thought. Make a trip to his constituency… n u don’t need any explanation….
We all support him n that support will be always there with him as in person he is real gentleman…
With one more election in Valpoi, a section of the voters there will have a very good time! Lot of gifts to a section, may be free liquor in the bars, may be lots of parties with chicken and liquor, may be lot of money changing hands, may be lot of promises to dole out Govt. jobs, may be lot of petrol and diesel fumes in the air, may be lots of intimidation to the opposition, may be lot of misuse of public funds to satisfy the chamchas, may be lots of underhand money to the opposition party workers for clandestine canvassing, etc, etc, etc,,,
A section of voters will always pray to the God for more and more frequent elections!
Long live our democracy!
Vishwajit Rane the man fondly known as BABA by one and all in the Satari Taluka and specially Valpoi has inherited all the good qualities of his father and in fact I can say he is much ahead of his father.
Till date no MLA has done to his constituency as much as BABA has done for Valpoi and Valpoikars. I know him personally and have been with him during his previous campaigns. This man has lot of love for people. He is the one who will take a beggar by his hand and make him an emperor, a quality which he has not inherited from his father but his own.
He is a vey dynamic leader. I am not flattering him nor have I received anything from him, but what I am saying is from the bottom of my heart. He is an ever helpful man to one and all.
Believe me, the Valpoi people will elect him as easily as it was done before. He had started developments in Valpoi and his whole constituency much much even before he was elected or before the elections and till today has continued the developments. No MLA in Goa has done such tremendous task ever before. Where other MLA’s take in lakhs to give government jobs to the Goans though the jobs are free, our beloved BABA has filled up government jobs with Satarkars irrespective of caste & creed without taking a single paisa from the candidates. What more does one need? Just like my friend Mr. Afzal Shah has mentioned below, that should be enough for anyone criticizing BABA.
The only thing BABA should do is distance himself from the wrong elements in the politics and ministries. His qualities are unspoken of. He never hesitates in helping people. In the past years when Narhari Haldankar was the MLA of Valpoi, he never even turned and looked upon us, the Catholics of Valpoi. He only visited our houses during elections. Our waddo was deserted.
But today I am proud of BABA that he started the development in our waddo and also gave jobs for our catholics. This has happened I think for the first time since Liberation of Goa. Before this the catholics were totally neglected by all the politicians. BABA has opened his doors for the Catholics of Valpoi likewise to others also. May God bless him – Menino (Valpoi/UK)
