Condolence to Sarabjit turns 'political'

The motion moved by the Congress to condole the death of Sarbajit Singh backfired on the opposition as the ruling BJP jumped at the opportunity tg blame the central government for not doing enough for his timely release.
The House however unanimously passed the condolence motion.
“Sarabjit was not a terrorist, but had just crossed into the Pakistan territory and suffered for 22 years in jail," said opposition leader Pratapsing Rane, while moving the motion.
He demanded that Pakistan should probe the attack and culprits should not be spared.
This was followed by health minister Laxmikant Parsekar and BJP legislator Vishnu Wagh, who took it as an opportunity to hit at the central government.
“Sarabjit’s family has blamed the central government for not handling the issue properly”, pointed out Wagh.
Sarabjit was mercilessly beaten up by his jail mates following which he later died in Lahore hospital today morning.
Parsekar as well as Wagh said this is not the way India treats even actual terrorists with a principle that any accused is innocent till he is proved guilty.
Parsekar, a senior BJP minister, even went to the extent of saying that ‘our Indian government’ feeds lakhs of rupees of Biryani to the terrorists after their arrest.
Lavoo Mamledar, the MGP MLA, said mere suspension of jail officers by the Pakistani government is not enough and Indian government should demand a thorough probe into Sarabjit’s death.
Speaker Rajendra Arlekar also joined the ruling party chorus, stating that the central government should be more sensitive towards such issues.\
Interestingly, not a single Congressman either spoke on the motion or countered the allegations made by the ruling party members.
