Not mining, Cong arrears was real burden: CM

Major financial burden for Goa last year was not mining but the huge amount of arrears left by the erstwhile Congress government, chief minister Manohar Parrikar said.
While speaking during a debate on several taxes including excise, Parrikar said Goa lost revenue of Rs 550 crore due to mining, but gained Rs 570 crore more than the previous year on other taxes.
“But the major burden was paying Rs 1053 crore towards the arrears the Congress government had not paid to contractors etc”, he said.
Though direct revenue from mining industry reduced due to ban on mining operations, the chief minister said the state earned almost Rs 228 crore through renewal of mining leases.
Mining also affected collection on VAT by Rs 250 crore.
There has been growth in all kind of other taxes, he said, including Rs 28 crore more on entertainment tax, Rs31 crore more on excise, Rs 40 crore more on land registration and even Rs 50 crore more on casinos.
“If there was mining, we would have been plus Rs 1000 crore”, he observed.
1st, so entire loss of 33000 crores parrikar has caused to goa govt and goas economy taken together is due to 1053 crore liability alone?
2nd so entire loans taken by parrikar govt of 850 crores before budget and 200 crores now that is total 1050 crores have gone to satisfy this 1053 crores liability?
3rd how is that parrikars figures change every day, some number before budget, some number after budget and entirely different numbers in budget? mr pillakar do you decide what figure you wnat to quote to press everyday in the morning when you get up?
Dear..first understand what Mr Parrikar is refering to,,he said loss to state on taxes due to mining closure is less painful than the dues for useless and unwanted expenditure of previous regime..
