Parrikar's 'reckless' schemes would burden economy: Rane

Goa's main opposition Congress party today expressed its worry over financial repercussions of Manohar Parrikar–led government's populist schemes which were declared in the state budget.

Participating in the discussion on the budget, Leader of Opposition Pratapsinh Rane termed the schemes as "reckless" and "unrealistic" saying they would further burden the sagging financial condition of the state.

"The reckless budget proposals have destroyed the faith of people in the government," he said pointing out to the announcements like reduction in petrol prices and financial assistance for marriages of girls.

Rane said there are lot of giveaways based on the optimistic projections which cannot be realistic, considering the global economic slowdown.

"I am not painting a dismal picture but the overall slow down in the economy is going to affect Goa too," he said.

Stating that the recent advisory by British government is going to cut down tourist inflow, Rane claimed that one could not bank much on state government's projections in tourism sector.

"The global slowdown is going to affect our main stake industries including tourism and mining," he commented.

The former Chief Minister said under such a scenario, Goa government should have cut down on unwanted expenditure incurred through the populist schemes.

Rane also pointed out that while money is being invested in populist schemes, the allocation to the technical sector has been slashed.

Slow down in economy in Goa is may be due to stopping of illegal mining, but not because of Marriage gift or reduction in petrol.

Stopping of illegal mining activities will benefit in long run.

The Government may bring ceiling for Rs. One lakh if it thinks.

The farming, fishing, dairy, are ignored, the govt is started giving importance to these. Govt should also give importance, craft craft related and traditional jobs.

The political parties should have vision for the future and just for the today and tomorrow.

before asking parrikar mr rane u have a lot to answer. Recent reports show goa one of the smallest state in india has highest unemployment of 18 percent. That is 18 out of 100 that is about 3 lakh in 15 lakh population. This is when goa has highest per capita income. Howz that? U were the cm most of the time. This unemployment is your creation. And if so many are unemployed than who has money to show high per capita income? Answer can only be that u and ur gang has stashed all the money. If parrikar does not take action against u that means both of u have joined hands in looting goa. But that part comes later. U answer ur sins first.
