Won't rest until brain behind night club attack arrested: CM

Chief minister Manohar Parrikar today said the government will not leave any stone unturned to arrest the brain behind the attack on a night club two months ago.
Four prime accused, including a detainee under National Security Act, is involved in a case of masked men ransacking a night club two months ago, he revealed.
He also assured the House today not to leave any stone unturned to arrest the brain behind the attack, ‘no matter how big the person is.’
The whole state was shocked when around 30 masked men ransacked a night club at Nerul on 22 August.
Calangute MLA Michael Lobo observed that the whole incident has a different angle to it.
Replying to the question raised by Fatorda MLA Vijay Sardesai, Parrikar said the police have already arrested five persons while four prime accused are absconding.
These include former NSA detainee Zenito Cardozo, Sandip Pujari and Rohan Vaingankar – all from St Cruz and Ritesh Nagvekar from Calangute.
As the JMFC court has refused to issue warrant against them, the chief minister said the police have now approached the high court in this regard.
Parrikar was in fact very critical of the role the JMFC is playing, stating that not having non-bailable warrant is creating hindrance in arresting the prime accused.
“Though there were 29 accused in this case, the four absconding criminals are the main accused”, he said.
While Lobo demanded to hand over the case to the Crime Branch since Porvorim police have failed, Parrikar informed that a district investigation committee has been formed to probe into it under direct supervision of SP.
Lest us hope Mr Parrikar sticks to his words and promises and with determiation.
