PWD engineer suspended for illegality

Continuing its "cleansing" drive against tainted officials, Goa government today suspended a senior PWD engineer for his alleged involvement in irregularities in tendering the road works.
Director of vigilance department Sunil Masoorkar ordered suspension of executive engineer P T Parkar after initial inquiry revealed his involvement in fudging the road contract tenders worth crores.
Parkar had allegedly bifurcated 48 works into 268 tenders so as to avoid getting the sanction from the higher authorities.
The suspended official had authority to sanction work up to Rs five lakh.
The vigilance department had initiated inquiry against Parkar after he was found to be involved in bifurcation of the works in year 2009, when he was heading department's south Goa division.
He was immediately transferred to the headquarters last year and inquiry was ordered against him.
The department officials stated that the engineer bypassed the mandatory requirement of advertising the works in local newspapers.
According to officials, Parkar used to put up notice on the office notice board before tendering the contracts.
Mr PT Parkar must have learnt his "trade in corruption" from his Headman ,Churchill Alemao.Churchill Alemao and Valanka will surely have some involvement in these sorts of crimes.
