The neo-fangled innovation of a hassle-free Devnagri font compatible for all kind of computers will be formally launched on Friday, 26 February in Goa.
"Gangal1 font, which gels well with all type of softwares and can be used on almost all window-based editors, is expected to replace the existing fonts in Devnagri script," Srikant Barve, promoter of Marathi Editor, a group supporting the promotion of this font, told reporters here.
Two Marathi veterans Shubhanan Gangal and Yamaji Malkar, based in Mumbai, have discovered this font which claims itself to be user friendly.
"Just like an Arial font, Gangal1 font will never become outdated," Gangal told reporters during a press conference in Panaji.
He said that the font is compatible for all kind of applications and can be shared with others through an email by attaching a file.
"It can be installed like any other true type font," Gangal added.
The makers of this font are trying to push it in the Maharashtra government's computers so that the communication in Marathi, which is official language of the state, would be a reality.
"We have approached the cultural committee to install these fonts. They are yet to get back to us," Gangal said.
The font is readily and freely available for the people, which will facilitate Marathi, Hindi and Konkani typing.
How to get it and install on the computer?
