Parrikar proposes dissolution?
Sandesh Prabhudesai | 27 February 2002 13:31 ISTWhile the ruling BJP at centre is yet to recover from the debacle in the Assembly polls held recently, Goa's BJP government has reportedly proposed to the Governor to dissolve the state Assembly.
Though chief minister Manohar Parrikar is yet to confirm the news, his cabinet colleagues as well as party sources confirm that a decision in this regard was take at a hurriedly convened cabinet meeting today morning.
This is perhaps a counter move to fizzle out plans of some disgruntled elements within BJP cabinet to split and form alternate government, joining hands with the Congress.
It is learnt that chief minister Manohar Parrikar has rushed to the Raj Bhavan to propose dissolution of Goa Assembly. He is likely to address a press conference in this regard in the afternoon, after meeting Governor Mohammad Fazal.
